About
Welcome to Hasta Banana, a blog about playing and creating Arma 3 missions. It is currently being maintained by Crimson Mage who has been playing the Arma franchise for a little over a decade. The majority of those years was spent playing with his once milsim group now casual gaming community Task Force Vanguard.
My Mission Making Journey
I have released 15 missions to the community with dozens more sitting unreleased in my files. As a former Zeus in Task Force Vanguard, I spent countless hours crafting experiences for my group. My missions span everything from Halo-inspired sci-fi operations to Vietnam War scenarios and modern-day conflicts. I do not really have a specialty as I switch around from theme to theme. I am particularly proud of missions like Operation Resolute Spear, Operation Sunshine, Depths of Mombasa, and an unreleased mission called Shadows of Mombasa.
What got me into mission making was simple – my group of pals at TFV would always scout the workshop for scripted coop Arma 3 missions but we hardly ever found some. So, I started making my own.
I would say I am intermediate with SQF scripting. The hardest hurdle I learned to overcome was how to script in multiplayer. But here is the thing – I feel comfortable talking about mission making not because I am particularly good at scripting. Mission making (sadly) is more than just scripting. Getting the pacing and ambience of a mission is just as hard and difficult. And I am not saying I am particularly good at those either (or writing lol). But I have done it quite a bit, so I have learned a few things.
Why This Blog Exists
I decided to start this blog now because it is 2025 and I constantly hear people say blogging is dead. Perfect timing really – if this turns out to be a shit blog, nobody will read it anyway so I lose nothing! That and I am a sucker for decentralized media.
I hope this blog will probe readers to think about Arma 3 missions a different way. Even for a second and then it is gone. I just want to exchange ideas. This means that I can also learn from my readers. I want this blog to help people create more missions so me and my friends can play them!
